This year's Main Event successfully broke the record from 2006 during the last flight, and we were all so interested in what the final numbers of this record-breaking year would be. Late registration to day 2 is becoming an increasingly popular choice for players thanks to the still comfortable 75bb stack, as demonstrated by yesterday's day 2D. It gave the whole event a special taste, when the additional 507 entries took care of definitively sealing several records!

So the the new record is a massive 10,043 entries, thanks to which the 17-year-old record was broken by 1,270 entries! This number in money terms represents a $93,399,900 prize pool, from which 1,507 players will take their share. Mincash will once again be worth the traditional $15,000, but on the other side of the leaderboard shines an incredible amount - $12,100,000 for this year's champion!

One of the highlights of yesterday was undoubtedly Phil Hellmuth on the TV table, whose game could be watched by viewers from all over the world. But they also saw his end when the most successful player in WSOP history ran into Nicholas Rigby with AsTs on the flop AdTh9d with Tc9c. The board didn't help, and PokerBrat's hopeful deep run ended prematurely already on day 2.

According to preliminary unofficial chip counts, it was Phil's executioner Nicholas Rigby who bagged the second largest stack worth 921,500, but only home representative Maurice Hawkins could beat him with a stack of 941,000. If you've been following us closely, you're probably familiar with this name - it's Hawkins who leads the all-time WSOPC subseries charts with a record 15 WSOPC rings, and now it looks like he's carried that form over to bracelet events as well!
