Before we get to the whole unpleasant situation, we need to introduce you to the main actor. He is Michigan native Craig Bergeron, who is known as "hu4rollz" online. Craig is 34 years old and is a professional poker player with career live tournament winnings worth over $1.3 million.

Before Black Friday, Craig was a well-known online player, but how much he was able to earn through online play, we have no idea. What we do know is that he won a WSOPC ring in 2011. In 2009, he won a €2,000 NLH tournament at EPT Dortmund. In the same year, he finished third in EPT Barcelona and took home his biggest prize (€221,000) in early 2010 when he finished 4th in the EPT Deauville Main Event.

His 2015 WPT Maryland Live win is also on the list, where he took home $50,000. Craig's results on thehendonmob end in October 2019, when he played the Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event and finished in 25th place.

Craig in the media spotlight

Craig Bergeron has been flooding the headlines of various US media outlets in recent days, unfortunately now none of his poker success is to blame. Craig is in fact being charged with murder.

On December 23, 2024 at around 8:40pm, Craig allegedly shot and killed 37-year-old Tommy "Mike" Ireland in Detroit. He was supposed to have used a rifle to do so and then fled the scene in a white SUV. Police subsequently tracked down Bergeron using traffic cameras and he was arrested by police on December 24.

Tommy Ireland was pronounced dead at the scene and Bergeron is currently charged with four felonies. In addition to first-degree murder, he faces two counts of use and possession of a firearm. Shortly after the killing, Bergeron allegedly assaulted someone else on the St. Clair coast. However, he has not yet been charged in that case.

Bergeron is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail. Investigators do not yet know what happened between Bergeron and Ireland, and what led to the murder. Police also can't explain what Bergeron was doing more than 80 miles from his home, at the location where the murder occurred. What punishment awaits Craig if proven guilty has not yet been made public.
