You reach the age that gives you the right to enter the casino under local law, so you decide to celebrate your birthday by playing in the casino. You choose Ultimate Texas Hold'em and within minutes you walk away with a tidy sum of money. Sound like science fiction to you? That's exactly what happened a few days ago in Las Vegas.

Birthday celebration at

Nevada law allows people 21 and older to check into a hotel and enter a casino. So Damon Howell from Union City, Ohio decided to celebrate his 21st birthday by playing at O'Sheas Casino at The LINQ Hotel + Experience in Las Vegas.

He was enticed by a casino poker game called Ultimate Texas Hold'em, in which you play poker against the dealer. He spent only 30 minutes at that table, after which he was able to rejoice in the jackpot. In fact, Damon hit the Mega Progressive jackpot with his royal flush for a handsome $362,640.

The young man didn't even want to believe it when he was told the happy news. He thought the jackpot was not real and was in for quite a shock. When asked what he was going to do with the winnings, he replied that he was too young to know what to do with so much money. Later, however, he reconsidered his answer and said that he would probably buy a house.

But this is not the first time

Now we move back a few months, more precisely to October 14, 2023, when the exact same jackpot was hit in the exact same casino. This one was taken care of by Douglas Zuckermann from San Bruno, California, who also hit the jackpot in Ultimate Texas Hold'em after hitting a royal flush. It only took him 4 hands to do it and he walked away from the casino with even more than the young man mentioned above. At that time, the jackpot was worth $372,890. Zuckermann said he would use the winnings to pay off his student loans.

The Wizard of Odds website calculated the probability of a royal flush in Ultimate Texas Hold'em at 0.000002%. In most cases, hitting a royal flush pays 100% of the progressive jackpot and hitting a straight flush pays 10%.
